News June 2010: A campaign to end fluoridation in New Plymouth is soon to get underway after a New Plymouth District Council resolution to open the issue to consultation in the next council term. See the New Plymouth stop fluoridation campaign page. May 2010: Thumbs down for fluoride. The majority of residents in both Kaitaia and Kaikohe residents say no to fluoridation. These substances have never been approved for human ingestion, or studied for long term health effects. Yet, they are what is being added to our municipal water to provide "fluoride". In New Zealand, all District Health Boards have been instructed to pressure local councils to fluoridate any unfluoridated water supplies, regardless of the wishes of individual community members and the dental health status of the area.
