Welcome to FANNZ

We are demanding an end to the pollution of our public water supplies.

Register Your Non-consent

Action : Time to send a submission to your local ccouncil's draft Annual Plan or Long Term Plan.  This is one of the most important things you can do to help stop fluoridation in NZ. We need to let our councillors know that adding a chemical that is classified as a hazardous waste to the public drinking water is outrageous and unacceptable.  See here for details of when and where to send your submissions. Note: Auckland is already accepting submissions and you only have up to the 23rd of March to get your submission in.

Global scientific opposition to fluoridation - timeline of major developments

Watch this 30-minute video of science and medical professionals explaining why fluoridation is ethically and medically unsound, and should cease immediately.

Over 3,000 medical, scientific and environmental professionals have signed this statement calling for the end to fluoridation:

"It is time for the US, and the few remaining fluoridating countries, to recognize that fluoridation is outdated, has serious risks that far outweigh any minor benefits, violates sound medical ethics and denies freedom of choice. Fluoridation must be ended now."

NEW: Dr. Paul Connett, Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at St. Lawrence University in New York, gives a damning interview on the history of water fluoridation, the collusion of major industries to put certified toxic waste into your drinking water, and why government health authorities refuse to conduct scientific studies into the dangers of fluoridation. After watching this video, you will never look at tap water the same way again.

Dr. A.K. Susheela of India, who has spent the past three decades studying fluoride's effects on the body, says doctors and scientists in fluoridating countries must catch up with the science, and realise fluoride is a chronic poison.

Award-winning investigative journalist, Christopher Bryson, spent over ten years researching the history of fluoridation. Here, he tells the story of how a toxic pollutant came to be accepted as a benign medicant in public drinking water.

Dr. Joseph Mercola and Dr. Paul Connett discuss the ethics, health risks and bad science of fluoridation.

Ten facts about fluoridation

News

June 2010: A campaign to end fluoridation in New Plymouth is soon to get underway after a New Plymouth District Council resolution to open the issue to consultation in the next council term. See the New Plymouth stop fluoridation campaign page.

May 2010: Thumbs down for fluoride. The majority of residents in both Kaitaia and Kaikohe residents say no to fluoridation. See press release by Far North District Council.

Following this survey, the Far North District Council have voted unanimously not to restart fluoridation of Kaitaia and Kaikohe.

What's in your water?

Hydrofluorosilicic acid: S7 (Dangerous Poison)

This material is hazardous according to criteria of NOHSC; HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE.

Subclasses:
6.1 Category D: Substances which are acutely toxic.
8.1 Category A: Substances that are corrosive to metals.
8.2 Category B: Substances that are corrosive to dermal tissue.
8.3 Category A: Substances that are corrosive to ocular tissue.

Sodium fluorosilicate: S6 (Poison)

This material is hazardous according to criteria of ASCC; HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE.

Subclasses:
6.1 Category C: Substances which are acutely toxic.
6.4 Category A: Substances that are irritating to the eye.
9.3 Category B: Substances that are ecotoxic to terrestrial vertebrates.

Sodium fluoride: S6 (Poison)

This material is hazardous according to criteria of Safe Work Australia; HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE.

Subclasses:
6.1 Category C: Substances which are acutely toxic.
6.3 Category A: Substances that are irritating to the skin.
6.4 Category A: Substances that are irritating to the eye.
6.6B Category III: Substances which cause concern for humans owing to possible mutagenic effects.
6.8 Category B: Substances that are suspected human reproductive or developmental toxicants.
6.9 Category A: Substances that are toxic to human target organs or systems.
9.1 Category D: Substances that are slightly harmful to the aquatic environment or are otherwise designed for biocidal action.
9.3 Category B: Substances that are ecotoxic to terrestrial vertebrates.

These substances have never been approved for human ingestion, or studied for long term health effects. Yet, they are what is being added to our municipal water to provide "fluoride".

In New Zealand, all District Health Boards have been instructed to pressure local councils to fluoridate any unfluoridated water supplies, regardless of the wishes of individual community members and the dental health status of the area.

"I am appalled at the prospect of using water as a vehicle for drugs. Fluoride is a corrosive poison that will produce serious effects on a long range basis. Any attempt to use water this way is deplorable."
- Dr. Charles Gordon Heyd, Past President of the American Medical Association.

"Fluorides are general protoplasmic poisons, with the capacity to modify cell metabolism, changing the permeability of the cell membrane by inhibiting certain enzymes. Sources of fluoride intoxication include drinking water containing 1ppm or more of fluorine."
-Journal of the American Medical Association, September 18, 1943.

How did it suddenly become "safe"?

"I would advise against fluoridation...Side-effects cannot be excluded... In Sweden, the emphasis nowadays is to keep the environment as clean as possible with regard to pharmacologically active and, thus, potentially toxic substances."
- Dr. Arvid Carlsson, co-winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine (2000)

"The mutagenic properties of fluorides have been demonstrated by experiments carried out under the strictest scientific conditions. "
- Quebec Ministerial Inquiry into Fluoridation 1979.

"Fluoridation is a naive utopia, without practical effect, and an attack on personal liberty."
- Minister of Health, Luxembourg, 1976.
